Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Zip-top Bag
  • Broiler Pan
  • Foil-lined Baking Sheet
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Cutting board

Ingredients

For the Marinade

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

For the Steak

  • 2 lb London broil top round or flank steak
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together all marinade ingredients. Place the steak in a zip-top bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag, ensuring the steak is evenly coated. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or up to 12 hours for best results).
  • Remove the steak from the marinade and let it sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven's broiler to high heat and place the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
  • Remove excess marinade by patting the steak dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  • Place the steak on a broiler pan or a foil-lined baking sheet. Broil for 5-6 minutes per side for medium-rare (internal temperature of 130°F). If you prefer it more well-done, add 1-2 extra minutes per side.
  • Once done, transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for 10 minutes. This step locks in the juices! Then, slice thinly against the grain for the most tender bites.
