Ingredients
  

Cake Base

  • 1 box lemon cake mix or vanilla if you prefer a milder flavor
  • 1 can lemon pie filling 21 oz

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg

Topping

  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 tsp lemon zest optional, for extra citrus flavor

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13” baking dish.
  • Spread the lemon pie filling evenly across the bottom of the dish.
  • In a bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and egg until smooth and creamy. Drop spoonfuls over the pie filling.
  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top. Do not stir.
  • Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix, ensuring as much coverage as possible.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.
