Equipment

  • Skillet or Frying Pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spatula

Ingredients

Beef Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef or beef strips 80/20 preferred for juiciness
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce smoky or spicy preferred
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Taco Assembly

  • 8 small tortillas flour or corn
  • 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mix
  • ¼ cup diced onions
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 small jalapeño sliced (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add the beef and cook until browned. If using ground beef, drain excess fat.
  • Stir in smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Then, pour in the honey and BBQ sauce, mixing well to coat the beef.
  • Let the beef simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and caramelizes.
  • Toast the tortillas in a dry pan or over an open flame until slightly charred and warm.
  • Assemble the tacos: Fill each tortilla with the honey BBQ beef, top with cheese, onions, cilantro, and jalapeños.
  • Serve warm with a side of guacamole or lime wedges. Enjoy!

Notes

For a spicy kick, add cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the beef. If you prefer a low-carb option, serve in lettuce wraps instead of tortillas.
