Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a heart-shaped cake pan.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Mix in vanilla extract. Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with milk, until fully combined.
Pour batter into the prepared heart-shaped pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting.
For the frosting, beat butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and mix well.
Add milk and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and fluffy. Add food coloring if desired.
Spread frosting evenly over the cake and decorate with heart sprinkles.
Notes
For a chocolate heart cake, add ½ cup of cocoa powder to the dry ingredients and increase sugar slightly.
