Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Nonstick Pan or Griddle
  • Spatula

Ingredients

Cinnamon French Roll Toast Base

  • 8 soft French rolls or cinnamon rolls For extra cinnamon flavor
  • 2 large eggs For a rich custard texture
  • ½ cup whole milk or heavy cream For added richness
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon For that classic cinnamon flavor
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract For a warm, sweet aroma
  • 2 tbsp butter For frying

Toppings

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar For dusting
  • maple syrup or cream cheese glaze For serving

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk (or heavy cream), ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract to create the custard mixture.
  • Slice the French rolls or cinnamon rolls in half. Lightly toast them if they are very soft to help absorb the custard better.
  • Quickly dip each roll slice into the custard mixture, making sure it is fully coated but not overly soaked.
  • Heat a nonstick pan or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Place the soaked roll slices in the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  • Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup or cream cheese glaze, and serve immediately!

Notes

For an extra crispy finish, sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the toast while still warm!
