Golden, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside, these buttermilk waffles are the ultimate breakfast treat. The buttermilk adds a tangy richness while ensuring the perfect texture every time. Pair them with syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream for a delightful meal!
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
In a separate bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.
Preheat the waffle maker and lightly grease it with butter or non-stick spray.
Pour about ½ to ¾ cup of batter into the waffle maker and cook for 4–5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Repeat with the remaining batter, keeping cooked waffles warm in a 200°F (93°C) oven if needed.
Serve immediately with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or your favorite toppings.
Notes
For extra crispy waffles, let the batter rest for 10 minutes before cooking. To store, freeze in a single layer, then reheat in a toaster or oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes.
