Ingredients
  

Base

  • 48 saltine crackers one sleeve

Caramel Layer

  • 1 cup unsalted butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed

Chocolate Topping

  • 2 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped pecans optional
  • sprinkles or flaky sea salt optional, for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar, stirring constantly. Once it begins to boil, continue stirring for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  • Carefully pour the hot caramel over the crackers, spreading evenly with a spatula. Bake for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the caramel. Let them sit for 2 minutes, then spread melted chocolate smoothly across the surface.
  • While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle with chopped pecans, sprinkles, or flaky sea salt.
  • Allow to cool at room temperature for 20 minutes, then transfer to the fridge for at least 1 hour until firm.
  • Break into bite-sized pieces and enjoy!

Notes

For a fun twist, try white chocolate and peppermint toppings, or swap saltines for Ritz crackers or pretzels for a unique texture.
