Ingredients
  

Rice Krispie Treats Base

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 oz mini marshmallows or about 40 regular marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract optional but highly recommended
  • pinch of salt enhances flavor

Instructions
 

  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat. For a richer flavor, let it brown slightly until it has a nutty aroma.
  • Add the marshmallows and continue stirring until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  • Fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, ensuring every piece is coated evenly.
  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch pan. Gently press it down using a buttered spatula or wax paper, but do not press too hard to keep them light and chewy.
  • Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
